Format & scoring
How many questions are there in BITSAT 2026?
BITSAT 2026 has 130 base questions in the main section, with an optional 12-question bonus round if you finish base with time remaining. Maximum total: 142 questions. Scoring is +3 correct, −1 incorrect.
What is the BITSAT 2026 maximum score?
Base section: 390 marks (130 × 3). With full bonus: 426 marks (142 × 3). Most admission cutoffs are reported on the 390-base scale.
When is BITSAT 2026 Session 2?
May 24, 25, and 26, 2026. The window is fixed; your specific date and slot are assigned by BITS based on registration.
Can I appear for both Session 1 and Session 2?
Yes. You can appear for both. The better score from your two attempts is used for admission (not averaged). Many students sit Session 1 to baseline, then sit Session 2 to improve.
How does the BITSAT bonus mechanic work?
Once you complete all 130 base questions, you can opt into a 12-question bonus round: 3 each from Physics, Chemistry, Maths/Biology, and Logical Reasoning. English Proficiency does NOT have bonus questions. The bonus is one-way - you can't return to base after starting it.
What is the BITSAT 2026 negative marking rule?
−1 for incorrect answers. Unanswered questions = 0. This makes pure guessing negative-EV. Skip if you don't know; educated-guess only after eliminating at least one option.
Is a calculator allowed on the BITSAT exam?
No. BITSAT does not allow any calculator - on-screen, physical, or any other form. The CBT interface does not include a built-in calculator either. Rough work happens on the paper sheets the test centre provides, which you submit at the end of the exam. All numerical work has to be done by hand, which is one reason the Physics and Mathematics sections favour candidates with strong mental arithmetic and quick standard-formula application. Practising mock papers without calculator assistance is essential to build that comfort.
Can I improve a Session 1 score by retaking BITSAT in Session 2?
Yes, and this is exactly the use case the two-session format was designed for. Many candidates sit Session 1 as a baseline attempt, identify weak areas from the score breakdown, drill those for 7-10 days, and retake in Session 2 with materially better preparation. BITS uses the higher of the two scores for admission decisions, so a weaker Session 1 cannot drag down a stronger Session 2. The typical lift between Session 1 and a focused Session 2 attempt is 15-25 marks, sometimes more for candidates who fix specific section weaknesses.

Eligibility
Am I eligible if I'm a 2025 dropper?
Yes. 12th-pass in 2025 or 2026 are both eligible. The dropper status itself is not a disqualifier.
Can I take BITSAT 2026 if I passed 12th in 2024?
Not by default. If you took an improvement exam in 2026 to raise your marks while keeping pass status, you become eligible. Otherwise, no.
What is the minimum 12th percentage for BITSAT?
75% aggregate in PCM (or PCB for B.Pharm. PCB), with at least 60% in each individual subject. Plus a pass in 12th English.
How is the top-1-in-board rule applied in BITSAT admission?
BITS Pilani offers direct admission to the rank-1 candidate in each recognised Class-12 board - CBSE, ICSE, and major state boards. The candidate must be the top-1 in the science stream of their own board for the relevant year, with certification from the board secretariat. If certified in time for counselling, the candidate gets a guaranteed seat in a programme of their choice at BITS Pilani regardless of their BITSAT rank, in addition to the normal rank-based admission flow that operates for every other candidate. This favours state-board toppers who may not match a CBSE applicant on raw BITSAT score but dominated their own board cohort.
BITSAT vs other exams
BITSAT vs JEE Main - which one should I prioritise?
JEE Main typically yields more seats (NIT/IIIT system). BITSAT yields fewer but often more selective seats (BITS Pilani is considered alongside top NITs). Most aspirants take both - BITSAT preparation is highly transferable from JEE Main + adds English + LR.
Application & result
How do I apply for BITSAT 2026?
Visit bitsadmission.com → register an account → fill the application form → pay the fee → upload documents (12th certificate, photo, signature). Pay attention to subject choice: PCM (B.E.) vs PCB (B.Pharm).
What is the BITSAT 2026 application fee?
Single session: ₹3,600 (M) / ₹3,100 (F). Both sessions: ₹5,600 (M) / ₹4,600 (F). If you registered for Session 1 only and want to add Session 2, the upgrade fee is ₹2,000.
When is the BITSAT 2026 result?
Results are usually released within 1-2 weeks of each session window closing. So Session 1 (May 19-23) results come early June; Session 2 (May 24-26) results come early-mid June.
How does BITSAT counselling work?
Counselling is iteration-based: you submit campus + program preferences, then BITS allots seats in successive rounds based on rank. The first iteration runs late June. Iteration 2, 3, 4 run through July as students confirm or decline.
What documents do I need on BITSAT exam day?
Carry the printed BITSAT admit card with the photo affixed in the designated space, a government-issued photo ID (Aadhaar, passport, voter ID, PAN, or driving licence) - the original, not a photocopy - and one passport-size photograph identical to the one on the admit card. Reach the centre at least 90 minutes before the scheduled slot for biometric verification. Banned items inside the hall include mobiles, smartwatches, calculators, any printed material, bags, food (a transparent water bottle is allowed), and any electronic device. The centre provides rough paper and a pen.
Cutoffs & campuses
What's the BITSAT cutoff for CSE at Pilani?
Recent cutoffs (2024-25) for CSE at BITS Pilani Pilani campus: ~320-328 in the first iteration. Earlier years were 310-322. Aim for 330+ to be safe.
What's the BITSAT cutoff for BITS Goa CSE?
Recent cutoffs (2024-25) for CSE at BITS Goa campus: ~300-315 in the first iteration. Slightly easier than Pilani CSE but very close.
Is BITS Pilani Dubai (BPDC) easier than the Indian campuses?
BPDC has a different admission process: 12th board marks are the primary criterion, not BITSAT. BITSAT score (≥175) unlocks tuition scholarships at BPDC. So BPDC is more accessible for strong-board, moderate-BITSAT candidates.
What is PBISE? How does it relate to BPDC?
PBISE is the BITS Pilani Dubai scholarship exam. Rank 1-100 unlocks 75% tuition + 25% hostel scholarship at BPDC. Rank 101-500 unlocks 50% tuition + 25% hostel. Visit pbise.in for current cycle details.
How does BITS Pilani Dubai admission work, and where does PBISE fit in?
BPDC admission primarily uses your Class-12 board marks rather than your BITSAT score. A 60-65 percent Class-12 PCM aggregate typically clears the BPDC admission floor. BITSAT score is then used to determine the scholarship tier at BPDC: 175+ unlocks a 25 percent tuition scholarship, 200+ unlocks 75 percent tuition plus 25 percent hostel, and so on. PBISE is a separate scholarship exam run by the Edzok team specifically for BPDC, with its own ranking that operates independently of BITSAT. PBISE rank 1-100 secures a 75 percent tuition plus 25 percent hostel scholarship, the same headline tier as a 200+ BITSAT score. Visit pbise.in for the current cycle.
What is the dual-degree programme at BITS, and how does its cutoff differ?
Dual degrees at BITS combine a B.E. with an integrated M.Sc. (Hons) - typical pairings include Chemical + Economics, Mechanical + Mathematics, and EEE + Physics. The programme runs five years instead of four. Dual-degree cutoffs run 20-40 marks lower than the corresponding standalone B.E. branch at the same campus, because the headline branding goes to the M.Sc. subject which most candidates rank below CSE / ECE / EEE. Dual graduates leave BITS with two degrees and an extra year of campus exposure, which recruiters in analytics, consulting, and quant finance often value. The post-first-year branch change mechanism can also let high-CGPA dual-degree students switch into a standalone B.E. branch.
Practice, BPDC, fraud
Can I appear for BITSAT in any city?
Yes. BITSAT is administered as a CBT in many test centres across India and a few international centres (Dubai, Sharjah). You select your preferred centre during application; final allocation is based on availability.
How many BITSAT mocks should I take before the real exam?
Aim for at least 8-10 full-length 3-hour mocks if you have 2+ months. With 26 days to Session 2, prioritise quality over quantity - 6-8 full-length mocks plus subject-specific timed sessions for weak areas.
Is the BITSAT 2026 syllabus the same as JEE Main?
Largely yes - Physics + Chemistry + Maths overlap with JEE Main. BITSAT adds English Proficiency + Logical Reasoning. Biology (for B.Pharm. PCB) is roughly NEET-syllabus level.
Are there any age limits for BITSAT 2026?
No age limit. Eligibility is purely based on 12th pass-year + percentage requirements.
What's the difference between B.E. and Integrated M.Sc. at BITS?
B.E. is a 4-year engineering degree. Integrated M.Sc. (Hons) at BITS is a 5-year program covering subjects like Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Chemistry, Biology. Cutoffs for M.Sc. (Hons) tend to be ~10-20 points lower than B.E. CSE in the same campus.
Can I change my campus or program after admission?
Yes - BITS allows internal transfer at the end of first year, subject to first-year CGPA performance and seat availability. The transfer process is competitive but real.
Where can I report BITSAT admission fraud or fake offers?
BITS Pilani's official fraud-report email is admnoc@pilani.bits-pilani.ac.in. If anyone offers "guaranteed admission" outside the official BITSAT process, treat it as fraud.
